About the Author
Grace H Kim AIA
is a principal and co-founder of Schemata Workshop, an architectural collaborative in Seattle. Kim received her bachelor of architecture with a minor in business from Washington State University, and had previously worked in practice at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in Chicago, Bumgardner Architects in Seattle, and as principal at Place Architects in Seattle. For two years, Kim was university education coordinator at the International Masonry Institute, where she developed masonry education programs for architecture students. As a member of the AIA Mentorship Task Group, she spearheaded efforts to create a national AIA mentorship website, entitled "Mentorship: a Journey in Collaborative Learning." In 2004, Kim was the first recipient of the AIA NAC/YAF Emerging Professionals Mentorship Award.
