| The nation's premier model fire code. Published by the International Fire Code Institute and endorsed by the Western Fire Chiefs Association, the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the International Conference of Building Officials, the Uniform Fire Code contains regulations relating to construction and maintenance of buildings and the use of premises. Topics addressed in the code include fire department access, fire hydrants, automatic sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire and explosion hazards safety, hazardous materials storage and use, provisions intended to protect and assist first responders, industrial processes, and many other general and specialized fire-safety requirements for new and existing buildings and premises.
The second volume of the Uniform Fire Code, the UFC Standards, available separately, contains specialized technical regulations related to fire and life safety. This volume includes the major support standards published by the National Fire Protection Association and standards developed by the International Fire Code Institute. |
