| The 2006 International Fuel Gas Code addresses the design and installation of fuel gas systems and gas-fired appliances through requirements that emphasize performance. It is fully compatible with the requirements of other codes in the International Codes Series.
Topics covered include gas piping installations, chimneys and vents, gaseous hydrogen systems, and specific appliances, such as forced-air warm-air furnaces, vented gas fireplaces, vented wall furnaces, floor furnaces, duct furnaces, clothes dryers, sauna heaters, pool and spa heaters, air-conditioning equipment, refrigerators, water heaters, illuminating appliances, engine and gas turbine-powered equipment, cooking appliances, both vented and unvented room heaters, and more.
The 2006 International Fuel Gas Code regulates:
- Fuel gas distribution piping systems
- Gas-fired appliance installation
- Gas-fired appliance venting systems.
Note that detached one- and two-family dwellings, and multiple-family dwellings (such as townhouses) that are not more than three stories in height and have a separate means of egress must comply with the requirements of the International Residential Code.
