Description
With practical, hands-on knowledge of the real-world issues that face plumbing professionals, Plumbing 201, 5th Edition, presents the second installment in a four-part plumbing training series. This resource was developed in partnership with the Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors National Association Educational Foundation. PHCC National Association Educational Foundation endorses the content and provides an industry-oriented approach. Plumbing 201, 5th Edition, builds upon the fundamentals covered in Plumbing 101, 5th Edition. This product offers an introduction to piping materials, sources, distribution for potable water, water pipe sizing, cross-connection protection, and water heaters. Coverage then progresses to sewage disposal, drainage fixture units, building drains, and stacks. The revised 5th edition features all-new code and safety sidebars to emphasize key code and safety information throughout the book. Using a clear, straightforward writing style and realistic examples that encourage you to apply what you learn, this book is a proven resource for anyone entering or working in the plumbing industry.
Features:
Full-color illustrations provide detailed visualizations of key concepts
Up-to-date codes ensure that you are learning the most current practices, methods, and tools used in the field today.
Comprehensive plumbing code definitions are based on the National Standard Plumbing Code (NSPC) so that you learn definitions that are consistent with industry standards
Organized according to the US Department of Labor Standards, this book meets the qualifying standards for the classroom portion of apprentice programs recognized by the USDOL.
Appendix on welding theory provides additional information for those readers looking to advance their trade skills.
Installation practices for plastic pipes and fittings are also highlighted, rounding out the book's fundamental coverage.
From the Preface
This is the second in a series of four plumbing textbooks suitable for training in an industry or academic setting. The content has been selected and organized to suit students and trainees who have had at least one year of formal or on-the-job training. The subject matter progresses on the assumption that students are applying what they learn in a school shop or field environment.
In addition to the new full-color format, the Fifth Edition has been updated to reflect the latest methods, components, codes, and standards. Many illustrations have been added to help readers grasp concepts more completely. The examples have been reworked to show a more logical step-by-step process. The section on welding has been vastly improved and updated. Finally, there are new field applications and revised safety information.
The curriculum that supports this book and the content itself have been developed and approved by the PHCC Educational Foundation Plumbing Apprentice and Journeyman Training Committee. The committee has endeavored to respond to industry demands for training material best suited to a field-oriented program. It is the combination of classroom and field experience that the committee wishes to promote throughout the industry.
