From the Preface of the 2006 Supplement to the City of Phoenix Building Construction Code
The City of Phoenix Building Construction Code is adopted by reference in Chapter 9 of the Phoenix City Code. This supplement to the Phoenix Building Construction Code was adopted by the Phoenix City Council on January 4, 2006, and is effective February 6, 2006.
The amendments to the 2006 Supplement to the City of Phoenix Building Construction Code are developed and maintained through the efforts of the Development Advisory Board, working in conjunction with the Development Services Department.
2006 Supplement to the City of Phoenix Building Construction Code consists of updated amendments to the City of Phoenix Administrative provisions and the following codes:
- 2003 International Building Code

- 2003 International Residential Code

- 2003 International Mechanical Code
Ordinance Number G-4771
Ordinance Number G-4771 amends Section 9-1 of the Phoenix City Code, updating the amendments to the Phoenix Building Contruction Code.
Instructions for Use of the Supplement
This document is the 2006 Supplement to the Phoenix Building Constrution Code and contains the updated amendments to the 2003 International Building Code, 2003 International Residential Code, 2003 International Mechanical Code and Administrative Provisions. Since the adoption and implementation of the Phoenix Building Construction Code in July 2005, Development Services staff and stakeholders have discovered various typographical errors, omissions and inconsistencies in the codes. In additon, the City Council has passed serveral new ordinances that require amending the construction code. The updated amendments are necessary to correct typographical errors and omissions, clarify inconsistencies in the code, and to implement the provisions contained in the ordinances recently passed by the City Council.
