From the Foreword
In May 2006, the news outlet CNN named property management one of the best jobs in America. This recognition reflects that fact that today, property management is a true profession. It requires sophisticated skills in accounting and financial reporting, a comprehensive understanding of state and federal regulations, and an ability to connect with and provide a high level of service to both owners and tenants.
The positive news for young people considering property management as a career is that the need for property management is increasing with every year that passes. As the population grows, more and more people rely on property managers to support their homes, businesses, restaurants, hotels, and factories. Investors have also acknowledged the importance of real estate and expect it to be managed at the highest levels.
Property management is both demanding and rewarding. It's also a career that allows for growth and advancement. For the individual who is service oriented, who cares about people, who can find solutions to tough problems, and who is excited by the prospect of a new challenge every day, property management holds the promise of a great future. This I can personally confirm from my own experience.
