If you are a plumber from apprentice to master, this is the one book to keep nearby.

From the Introduction
The plumbing codes have undergone considerable change since the 1997 editions were published. Some of the major codes have combined to create the International Plumbing Code. The Uniform Plumbing Code also has incorporated a number of changes in its 2000 edition. R. Dodge Woodson has used his decades of experience as a master plumber and plumbing contractor to distill these codes into a user-friendly guide for plumbers in the field. This is it.

There is no substitute for your local plumbing code book, but this invaluable tool will make your code book much easier to understand. Everything you need to know is in your code book, but can you understand it? Don't feel bad if you get confused by the code; many plumbers do. Woodson knows this. He has taught plumbing code classes at Central Main Technical College, has been a master plumber and contractor for more than 20 years. He is the author of nearly every professional plumbing book McGraw-Hill has in print. Woodson even has been called as an expert witness in court cases involving plumbing issues. If the term experts fit any plumber, it's R. Dodge Woodson.

Code books tend to be cold, sterile, complex, and boring. This seems to be the nature of that type of book. Woodson's work, however, is conversational, easy to understand, warm, funny at times, and built around years of in-the-field experience. Reading the code requirements for an island vent is one thing; learning how to install such a vent in cramped quarters is a different matter. Pipe sizing is covered in the codes, but many plumbers don't know how to begin to size a system. With Woodson's conversational style of writing, readers learn quickly, easily, and without the stress of trying to decipher cryptic code books.

Look at the table of contents for this book. You will see that it is laid out in the same general orders as those in your code books. Thumb through the pages and notice the tables, charts, and other illustrations. Read a paragraph here and there. Take note of Woodson's unique writing style. See how easy it is to comprehend. It won't take long to realize how valuable this code complement can be to you and your company.
