Description
Industrial Electricity 8th Edition is the ideal book to help electrical students, as well as maintenance technicians, master the fundamentals of electrical theory as they pertain to the field of industrial electricity. This fully updated eighth edition contains advanced information on electrical theory and presents all material in a clear, updated, and logical manner. Coverage begins with electrical symbols and drawings, current voltage, resistance, and power. Subsequent chapters cover Ohm's Law, series, parallel, combination circuits, and resistive and reactive circuits. Advanced material, including rotating machinery, motor controls, transformers, electronic drives, and PLCs are also thoroughly discussed.
In addition to the theory, the book also covers installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This eighth edition contains over 850 updated illustrations and photos that will help students and maintenance technicians master the fundamentals.
From The Preface
The continued growth and technological advances of the electrical and electronics industry result in many challenges for those entering or working in the field of industrial electrical maintenance. Not only must you be knowledgeable in these fields, you must stay abreast of changes and advancements.
A thorough knowledge of electrical theory is not enough to be successful as an electrical technician. You must also learn to apply the knowledge that you have gained. Since Industrial Electricity was first published, it has proven to be a valuable tool for beginners and experienced technicians alike. This text covers the theory of electricity and various applications. In addition, this text goes beyond the basic theories by introducing installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting applications as well.
The eighth edition of Industrial Electricity represents a refinement to the seventh edition. The text remains well illustrated. Terms are defined when introduced and a glossary is included as well. Each chapter begins with objectives and ends with review questions. To aid the instructor, an Instructor's Guide, detailing answers to the review questions, is available to course instructors.
Michael E. Brumbach has taught industrial electricity/electronics courses at the technical college level continuously since 1986. He has taught both credit and noncredit courses and has served as the Industrial Maintenance Department manager since 1994. He is responsible for programs in industrial electricity/electronics, industrial mechanics, and welding. Mr. Brumbach holds an associate degree in electronics technology and has eleven years' experience in the electrical/electronics industry. Mr. Brumbach is the author of Electronic Variable Speed Drives and coauthor of Industrial Maintenance.
