Bleachers or grandstands built to an updated standard for the design, construction, installation and inspection of free-standing seating will help keep spectators safer during a sporting event, parade or other activity.
This standard is now complete and includes comprehensive provisions for new and existing installations, regulating the design, inspection and construction of such installations. The ICC initiated the development of this stand-alone standard to address bleacher safety, after the issue was highlighted when two U.S. congressmen petitioned the Consumer Product Safety Commission to develop such regulations.
The 2007 edition of ICC 300: Standard for Bleachers, Folding and Telescopic Seating, and Grandstands includes comprehensive provisions for the design, inspection and construction of new and existing installations. ICC 300-2007 has been approved for reference in the 2007 Supplement to the International Codes. |
