This state-of-the-art new edition of the field's leading text puts authoritative design guidance at your fingertips. The authors demonstrate all necessary steps and techniques, following the sequence of materials and elements in the order used in actual design. This trusted reference keeps you current with the latest codes and industry standards, and provides a large number of practical design examples. Inside Design of Wood Structures ASD/LRFD, 6th Edition:
  • Wood Buildings and Design Criteria
  • Design Loads
  • Properties of Wood and Lumber Grades
  • Structural Glued Laminated Timber
  • Beam Design
  • Axial Forces and Combined Loading
  • Wood Structural Panels
  • Diaphragms
  • Shearwalls
  • Wood Connections
  • Nailed and Stapled Connections
  • Bolts, Lag Bolts, and Other Connectors
  • Connection Hardware
  • Diaphragm-to-Shearwall Anchorage
  • Advanced Topics in Lateral Force Design
Design of Wood Structures ASD/LRFD, 6th Edition, will lead you through the complete design of a wood structure (except for the foundations). The sequence of material follows the same general order that is used in actual design:
  • Vertical design loads and lateral forces.
  • Design for vertical loads (beams and columns)
  • Design of lateral forces (horizontal diaphragms and shearwalls).
  • Connection design (including the overall tying together of the vertical and lateral force-resisting system).
