Preface
There are no more common types of construction work than residential construction and residential remodeling. In no other area of construction are tradesmen more likely to crossover from one trade to another.

A special mix of reference information is required for residential and remodeling work, including important information on everything from concrete and masonry to carpentry, walls and floors, roofing and siding, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. I have also included a chapter on telephone installations, security (alarm) wiring, and cable TV wiring. Since these are now found in almost every home, I considered them necessary. I conclude with essential information on materials, tools, conversion factors, a glossary and a list of abbrevations.

Naturally, there may be some aspects of residential and remodeling work that I have not covered in sufficient depth for some readers. I will update this book on a continual basis and attempt to include material suggested by readers as well as keep pace with developments in the trades.
