The Concrete Manual Study Companion is intended to provide practical learning assignments for independent study of the Concrete Manual. The independent study format provides a method for you to complete the study program in an unlimited amount of time. Proceeding through the workbook, you can measure you level of knowledge by using the quizzes in each study session.
All study sessions contain specific learning objectives, a list of statements and questions summarizing the key points for study, and quizzes designed to assess your retention of technical knowledge. Therefore, before beginning the quizzes, you should thoroughly review the corresponding chapter of the Concrete Manual concerning the learning objectives and key points.
The quizzes are designed to encourage you to develop the habit of carefully reading the text for a clear understanding of the subject material. The questions are not intended to be tricky or misleading. The following three formats are used to vary the method of evaluation:
- Multiple Choice - Each statement is followed by a unique group of possible responses from which to choose.
- True/False - Each statement is either true or false.
- Completion - Each statement must be correctly completed by inserting the proper Concrete Manual text.
The study companion is structured so that every question is followed by the opportunity to record your response and the corresponding text reference. The correct responses are indicated at the back of the workbook in the answer key so you can assess your knowledge immediately.
Many new questions have been added to reflect the 2006 International Building Code and the 2005 edition of the ACI Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete (ACI 318-05).
Each chapter contains specific learning objectives, key points for study, and a quiz. Each of the 26 quizzes includes questions in three formats - multiple choice, true/false, and completion. An answer key is provided in the back of the book. |
