The 2009 North Carolina Energy Conservation Code is based on the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code.
SECTION 101
SCOPE AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
101.1 Title. These regulations shall be known as the North Carolina Energy Conservation Code as adopted by the North Carolina Building Code Council on March 11, 2008, to be effective January 1, 2009. References to the International Codes shall mean the North Carolina Codes. The North Carolina amendments to the International Codes are underlined.
101.2 Scope. This code applies to residential and commercial buildings.
101.3 Intent. This code shall regulate the design and construction of buildings for the effective use of energy. This code is intended to provide flexibility to permit the use of innovative approaches and techniques to achieve the effective use of energy. This code is not intended to abridge safety, health or environmental requirements contained in other applicable codes or ordinances.
