| The 2009 International Wildland-Urban Interface Code contains provisions addressing fire spread, accessibility, defensible space, water supply, and more for buildings constructed near wildland areas.
It is founded on data collected from tests and fire incidents, technical reports and mitigation strategies from around the world, and is fully compatible with the other codes in the 2009 International Codes Series. It is intended to mitigate the risk to life and structures from intrusion of fire from wildland fire exposures and fire exposures from adjacent structures, and to mitigate structure fires from spreading to wildland fuels.
