The 2007 California Building Code Residential Provisions Seminar Workbook has been developed in response to a decision by the State of California not to adopt the 2006 International Residential Code. This workbook is designed to provide an overview of 2006 International Building Code requirements for residential occupancies, as well as California amendments intended to better align the 2007 California Building Code with certain concepts in the 2006 International Residential Code.
The seminar on which this workbook is based was developed to discuss the basic concepts of one- and two-family dwelling provisions in the 2007 California Building Code. The workbook highlights some of the most significant 2007 California Building Code residential provisions and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of all these types of provisions. Additionally pertinent amendments made by the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) and/or the Office of the State Fire Marshal (SFM) have been identified. The text in this workbook is intended to serve as supplemental reference and resource material and does not replace the 2007 California Building Code.
After completion of this seminar, the participant will be able to:
- Locate one- and two-family dwelling provisions in the 2007 California Building Code.
- Describe the fundamental concepts regarding one- and two-family dwelling provisions in the
2007 California Building Code.
- Apply new one- and two-family dwelling provisions in the 2007 California Building Code.
- Explain new one- and two-family dwelling provisions in the 2007 California Building Code that are not in the 2001 California Building Code or the 2006 International Building Code but provided for by Department of Housing and Community Development and/or State Fire Marshal amendments.
