The 2006 North Carolina Fire Code is based on the 2003 International Fire Code, and includes the 2003 International Fire Code with North Carolina amendments integrated into the code. Technical changes to the 2006 North Carolina Fire Code from the requirements of the 2003 International Fire Code are indicated by underlines within the body of the code.

These regulations were approved by the North Carolina Building Code Council on September 13, 2005, to be effective July 1, 2006.
