From the Preface
This document is the International Energy Conservation Code 2004 Supplement. It is an excerpt of the energy provisions from the 2004 Supplement to the International Codes. It contains changes submitted in the 2003/2004 Code Development Cycle which were approved by the membership of the International Code Council (ICC).
As a result of the 2003/2004 Code Development Cycle, the 2003 edition of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) has been substantially revised and reformatted. The actions resulted in the elimination of four entire chapters (5, 6, 7, and 9), as well as the appendix of the 2003 IECC. This document, as well as the published version in the 2004 Supplement to the International Codes, contains the latest set of comprehensive energy provisions published by ICC.
This supplement is prepares in a form which facilitates adoption by reference and is convenient to use. A suggested form of an adoption ordinance is found on page V of the 2003 edition of the IECC. Through the adoption of this document, jurisdictions will have the benefit of the latest developments in energy regulations.
