| This new edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code reflects the latest in plumbing technology and covers all aspects of plumbing. Includes requirements for water piping, backflow prevention, DWV, indirect waste, private waste disposal systems, gas piping, and water heaters and their vents.
Published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, the 2003 Uniform Plumbing Code marks the first time in the history of the United States that a plumbing code has been developed through a true consensus process. Among those contributing to the content of the code were consumers, enforcing authorities, installers/maintainers, the insurance industry, labor, manufacturers, research/standards/testing laboratories, special experts, and users. The public is encouraged and invited to participate in IAPMO's code change process. The code is updated every three years.
Uniform Plumbing Code Change Process
The consensus process on which this code was developed has been accredited by the American National Standards Institute. This process serves as the framework for the Comprehensive Consensus Codes (C3) set, which includes codes from IAPMO, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the Western Fire Chiefs Association (WFCA), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
The 2003 Uniform Plumbing Code is also available in looseleaf or on CD-ROM.
