NFPA 1: Uniform Fire Code integrates the two most widely adopted fire codes in the United States!
A joint venture between NFPA and the Western Fire Chiefs Association, the new NFPA 1: Uniform Fire Code incorporates provisions from both the Fire Prevention Code and the WFCA's Uniform Fire Code, to create a document that serves every need:
The Fire Code is fully compatible with regulatory adoption procedures, with separate sections containing provisions for administration and code enforcement, occupancies, processes, equipment, and hazardous materials.
A new chapter on performance-based design aids building officials, architects, and engineers working with innovative building solutions.
Essential extracts and references to over 130 NFPA codes and standards make the code official's job easier.
Optimize public safety in your community with the landmark NFPA 1: Uniform Fire Code.
This 2003 edition of the Uniform Fire Code was restructured into parts to be more compatible with the regulatory adoption procedures, including administration and code enforcement, occupancies, processes, equipment, and hazardous materials provisions. It includes a newly expanded chapter on performance-based design as an enhanced tool for code officials and design professionals. Additional extracts and references from NFPA codes and standards that are essential to a code official's use of the document were added, bringing the number of referenced NFPA codes and standards to over 125. Additional chapters on hazardous materials were included that incorporate the provisions covered in the Uniform Fire Code.
The 2003 edition of NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code, is the result of the combined efforts and partnership of NFPA and the Western Fire Chiefs Association (WFCA). Jointly, these two organizations have developed a fire code based on the two most widely adopted fire codes in the nation. The National Fire Protection Association's NFPA 1, Fire Prevention Code, and the Western Fire Chief's Uniform Fire Code have been fully integrated, updated, and expanded to create the 2003 edition of NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code.
The 2003 edition of NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code, contains requirements from updated and additional text extracted from other NFPA codes and standards and from new requirements. Because the code relies so heavily on extracted text from other documents, the code has the advantage of reflecting the technical knowledge and expertise of the many committes responsible for the codes and standards from which the text is extracted. The 2003 Uniform Fire Code is intended to provide local and state jurisdictions with an effective fire code. The code was also reorganized into six parts: Administrative, General, Occupancy, Processes, Equipment, and Hazardous Materials, making it more user-friendly. Additional requirements and references were added pertaining to the safety issues not previously addressed. |
