| Adopted on May 5th, 2003, the provisions of these new codes will be enforced statewide on November 5th, 2003. During this six-month grace period, you have the option of using these new codes or the previous edition.
Based on the 2000 International Building Code, which features time-tested safety concepts, updated means of egress and interior finish requirements, comprehensive roof provisions, seismic engineering provisions, innovative construction technology, revamped structural provisions, reorganized occupancy classifications, and the latest industry standards in material design.
Note: We refer to this as the 2003 edition because it was amended, adopted, and will go into effect in the year 2003. The code is based on the 2000 editions of the International Codes, and has the year 2000 printed on the actual books. |
