| The International Building Code features time-tested safety concepts, structural and fire- and life-safety provisions covering means of egress, interior finish requirements, comprehensive roof provisions, seismic engineering provisions, innovative construction technology, occupancy classifications, and the latest industry standards in material design. The International Building Code is founded on broad-based principles that make possible the use of new materials and new building designs.
We have many publications and products available to help you use the International Building Code. To help you quickly locate the sections of the code most frequently referenced we have Quick Tabs, which are available as full-size inserts for the loose leaf editions of the code, or self-adhesive sticker tabs for the soft cover version. We also offer a workbook, which will take you chapter-by-chapter through the International Building Code to help you study the code. In our Engineering section you can find many guides to assist you with the structural and nonstructural provisions of the code, and answer many frequently asked questions. Should you need an update on the changes that were made from the 2000 International Building Code to the 2003 International Building Code, we have the 2003 International Building Code Update Resource Handbook, which answers the question, "Why did they change that section?" For commentary on many of the code's provisions, there is the 2003 International Building Code Commentary. The commentary is presented in two volumes, but each volume can also be purchased individually.
Although most states and local jurisdictions adopt the International Building Code as is, there are some areas with special building requirements unique to their location. These states and local jurisdictions may publish amendments to the codes. Most of these amendments are available here. If you believe your area may have made changes to the International Building Code, check with your local building department.
Request your complimentary copy of the Seismic Design Parameters CD-ROM, FREE with your purchase of the 2003 International Building Code or International Residential Code. It contains Earthquake Spectoral Response Acceleration Maps that will assist you with the Building and Residential Codes. Prepared in conjunction with the U.S. Geological Survey, Building Seismic Safety Council, and Federal Emergency Management Agency, E.V. Leyendecker, A.D. Frankel, and K.S. Rukstales. Ask for Item 8016CD in the Special Instructions box of your online shopping cart or order form.
The 2003 International Building Code is also available in softcover or on CD-ROM.
