| Published in 2002, the Ohio Building Code is based on the 2000 International Building Code, with the 2001 Supplement, which were published by the International Code Council (the ICC includes BOCA). The code is occasionally updated, and your purchase includes all updates published prior to your purchase. Additionally, subsequent updates can be purchased individually as they become available. Updates currently available for the Building Code were published in July 2002, April 2003, August 2003 and January 2004.
A new edition of the code was published in 2005.
The book includes a User's Guide which describes the Ohio Board of Building Standards' Rule-making process, describes the powers and duties of the Board, gives a brief history of the Ohio Building Code, and describes the parts of the Ohio codes. A list of abbreviations is also included, along with a table of contents and index.
The Ohio Building Code is published in loose leaf format and includes an oversized custom three-ring binder. Updates should be inserted in chronological order (beginning with the first-published update), following the instructions provided with each update packet. For ease of reference, the date of each update (month and year) is printed in the lower right corner of each page. To further help you identify which portions of text have been modified by a revision, double asterisks (**) are placed to the right of the modified section. Any text from the International Building Code that has been modified by the Ohio Board of Building Standards is indicated by a vertical line in the right margin.
