The effective date for the 2001 California Building Code is November 1, 2002.
The 2001 California Building Code is based on the 1997 Uniform Building Code, and is also known as Part 2 of Title 24, the California Code of Regulations. Like the Uniform Building Code, it has been divided into two volumes. Volume One of the California Building Code contains both fire- and life-safety provisions and administrative provisions. It also includes those nonstructural provisions and excerpted structural provisions that are used for field inspections. Volume Two of the California Building Code contains the structural engineering and design provisions. Both parts are available individually.
The California Building Code is based on the 1997 Uniform Building Code, with California's amended pages integrated into the code. It is in loose-leaf format, and comes with a custom California Building Code binder.
